Diaconal Theological Formation
The vocational diaconate ordination process at the diocesan-level (diaconal “Theological Formation”) will involve ordinands joining together into cohorts who will move through four Learning Modules comprised of Ridley Institute lectures, assigned readings, and reflection questions.
Each Learning Module will be led by a Facilitator who holds regular seminars (about every other week) for the cohort to discuss learning to date and to personally check in with ordinands.
The four Learning Modules will run over a 12-month period, and there will be two entry points per year into the School, one in September and one in February (allowing for two cohorts per year).
Ordinands will then take a diaconal Summative Assessment at the conclusion of the Learning Modules. The Summative Assessment can be either written or oral.

Presbyteral Theological Formation
Upon the conclusion of their diaconate studies and ordination, those who desire to further pursue the presbyterate will transition into “transitional diaconate” studies in the DRM. They are further required to procure an advanced degree in theology, divinity, or religion (MA, MDiv, PhD Theology, Church History, etc.).
Upon receiving these transcripts, transitional diaconate candidates will receive permission to sit for a Theological Assessment Exam.
If candidates do not receive a “proficient” on their Theological Assessment Exam, they will be required take remedial courses through the Ridley Institute.
If candidates do receive a “proficient” on this Theological Assessment Exam, they will proceed to focus on their Local Formation course.
