Workshops

1:00 - 2:00 pm — Session 1 Workshops (Empowering)

  • Cultivating a Vibrant Marriage Amidst the Pressures of Ministry, Waters & Kemptons | CC 202

    • Sit in on a conversation with Billy & Janna Waters (Wellspring) and Kempton & Carissa Jackson (Resurrection Anglican) about cultivating a vibrant marriage amidst the pressures of ministry. In addition to hearing a discussion that's down-to-earth and full of depth, you'll get to ask your own questions directly to the panel. We hope that this time will strengthen and encourage your marriage, no matter what stage of the journey you're in.

  • Soaking Prayer Space, DRM Prayer Ministers | CC 209

    • Enter into a space of quiet and stillness and press into the presence of the Lord as prayer ministers pray for you. Come and go as the Spirit leads, but please do so quietly. What to expect: a room with quiet worship music. We will have 3x5 cards available as you enter if you care to write a specific prayer request. Prayer ministers will stand behind you, lightly laying their hands on your shoulders and praying blessing over you and listen for other ways the Lord will lead them to pray for you. If the space allows we will also have one to one prayer offered as well.

  • Renewal Amidst the Fray, Scott Shaum | CC 206

    • Repeated times of renewal, both spiritual and emotional, are imperative for our personal and public roles. Indeed, who we are as we go about this pastoral work is foundational. This is not merely a utilitarian dynamic, but a relational one. With the varied demands of life and ministry, how might personal renewal be experienced? This workshop will consider what deeper spiritual renewal is, what the Spirit is shaping in us, and specific ways we might follow Him into that deepening.

  • Becoming Like a Child: Exploring your Identity as a “Beloved Child of God”, Julia Barger | CC 212

    • For the last several years Julia has journeyed through the beautiful world of Children's Spirituality. Through developing a Godly Play program at Trinity Church and meeting with children as a certified Children’s Spiritual Companion, she has come “face to face” with Jesus and His call to become like a child to enter the Kingdom. This session will provide an opportunity to encounter God's loving kindness throughout your life. With the help of imagination, reflection, art, prayer and play we will invite the Holy Spirit to help us hear, “You are my beloved child, in whom I delight.”

  • Union with Christ & Spiritual Formation: How Does God Grow Us?, Shane Copeland | CC Chapel

    • Spiritual formation is presently a popular term. At its core, it simply means how God transforms us into Christlikeness. We are going to briefly explore spiritual formation from a Reformational Anglican perspective. The starting place is our union with Christ, or being “in Christ.” Being in Christ is a relational term. Through faith in the gospel, the Spirit unites us to Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. Out of this union, we cultivate ongoing communion with God through the means of grace, which is how God grows us.

  • How the Anglican Tradition Shapes Us, Bp. Ben Fischer | CC 201

    • Every Christian tradition aims to shape the people of God to love him more and to walk in his ways, typically by nurturing personal time with the Lord and turning attention to him in worship. The Anglican tradition has a wonderful set of resources developed at the time of the Reformation to encourage laity who had been starved of God's Word to feed on him while also growing together in local community. The Book of Common Prayer contains rhythms and practices that not only enable whole-life discipleship but also confronts the tendencies of isolation in late modernity. This workshop will walk through several liturgies of the BCP to show how they can be applied in a local church setting.

2:30 – 3:30 pm — Session 2 Workshops (Equipping)

  • Sitting with People in Suffering, Laura Lanser | CC Chapel

    • A terminal diagnosis. The discovery of infidelity. A car accident. Someone turns to you in their unimaginable moment and you - an everyday, caring, empathetic, person but not a therapist - wonder, “What do I do?” Some practical and foundational principles can help orient our actions. Chronology. Earl Grey Tea. Laughter. Chopping down a tree. Believe it or not, the items on that list represent some critical elements in the world of care. In this workshop we’ll tackle some basics: where to start, what to be aware of, common mistakes, and simple ways to reduce further harm.

  • Ministry to Refugees & Immigrants, Mike Sandgren | CC 201

    • Join the Justice and Mercy Working Group for a workshop designed to help participants better understand and faithfully minister to refugees and immigrants in today’s context. The workshop will provide pastoral perspectives on migration, with attention to the lived experiences of displaced individuals and families. We will explore practical approaches for offering care, hospitality, and support within their communities while remaining grounded in shared values and faith commitments. The workshop aims to equip attendees with knowledge, empathy, and tools for thoughtful engagement and responsible service in the midst of this complex issue.

  • Serving & Leading an Ordinary Church, Ben Clarke, Matthew Lanser, Preston Gordon | CC 202

    • The American spirit is drawn to the big and the grand. "Success" is often viewed in terms of size and quantity, yet the majority of churches are under 100 Sunday parishioners. While there is goodness in larger churches, goodness can also be found in smaller ones. In this paneled seminar, we will engage with the questions of the unique joys and challenges of serving and leading in a small(er) church. Panelists will interact with these ideas, allowing ample time for attendees' questions, reflections, and thoughts.

  • Recruiting, Training, Forming, & Sending Future Leaders, Tara Malouf | CC 206

    • 3 Streams Institute was launched 2 years ago in order to provide a defined leadership development pathway for Wellspring and, hopefully, our Diocese. Join us as we explore the theme of forming future leaders. We'll talk about the vision behind 3 Streams Institute, our 6 learning themes and why they matter, and our rhythms of leadership development. We'll talk about what we've seen so far and how you might be able to profit from our learning. We will also have room for Q&A and discussion, so we can learn from each other.

  • Community Responsibility of Safeguarding: Prepared or Hoping to be Spared?, Hope Brian | CC 209

    • Should our staff members send individual messages to youth? What do we do with known sex offenders in our congregation? Is the DRM Safe Church Policy a stumbling block to volunteers? This workshop will briefly review the DRM Safe Church Policy, outline how our communities work together to create safe and welcome places for all members, discuss real implementation challenges and solutions from large and small DRM congregations, and end with an opportunity to ask questions. Everyone is welcome, especially those in our churches who are on the front line of implementing safeguarding requirements or receiving reports of misconduct.

  • The Pro-Abundant Life Church, Hector Juarez | CC212

    • This workshop explores what it means to be a Pro-Abundant Life Church—a community called to uphold the sanctity of human life with grace and truth. Grounded in Scripture, participants will examine humanity as God’s image bearers, the reality of spiritual warfare, God’s view of the preborn, the moral truth about abortion, and the hope of the Gospel. Emphasizing compassion, repentance, and healing, this session affirms forgiveness in Christ while equipping the Church to address abortion through the lens of the gospel and discipleship.
